High Performance Driving School – May 22-23, 2016
High Performance Driving School – May 22-23, 2016
The first ASCC High Performance Driving School of 2016 will be held during the long weekend on Sunday May 22nd and Monday 23rd, 2016. This session is open to anyone who wants to learn some of the more advanced techniques and track safety to qualify for a Lapping card or Time Attack license for the 2016 season. Remember that you REQUIRE one of these licenses to drive at ARMS AMP events (outside of schools or slalom events)!
The High Performance Driving School will take place starting with a evening classroom session at 6:30pm Sunday May 22nd at 100 Dispensing Way, Lower Sackville followed by an all day track session at Atlantic Motorsport Park on Monday May 23rd. Entry fee is $250.00 which includes the Lapping card and/or Time Attack license for students who successfully complete the school. This course consists of a classroom session instructing students on the theory and physics of high performance driving as well as track safety and the following day consists entirely of on-track activities with small groups of students paired to experienced instructors.
The HPDS Students are required to bring the following:
– A safe street vehicle. If your vehicle can pass MVI its probably fine for the on-track sessions. Vehicles will be inspected for suitability (Brakes, Tires, etc) prior to the session. Convertible vehicles are NOT permitted without adequate rollover protection, factory rollover protection is not enough so please check with the organizers. Please contact the organizers with questions regarding vehicle suitability. Students will be asked to complete a self-inspection checklist provided prior to the course.
– A Snell 2005M or newer ‘M’ rated helmet is acceptable, provided the car is not equipped with a roll cage or racing slicks. Cars with cages and/or slicks will require a Snell ‘SA’ rated helmet. Helmets meeting the following FIA standards are also approved.
FIA 8860-2004
Snell 2005 SA / 2010 SA
SFI Foundation 31.1A or 31.2A
If you do not have access to a helmet please contact the organizers as loaner helmets may be arranged with advance notice.

2016 ARMS Spec Miata Championship
Just here to let you all know that Spec Miata will be a class this year. That was never in question from our point of view. We have not sorted out all the details of prizes and such but we are working on that.
What I can say for certain is TOYO R888 will be the spec tire for 2016 and that the rule set will be posted shortly but only has few minor changes from last year. There maybe a change in tire for 2017 but we will have talks with the drivers on this topic as time progresses.
It has been unfortunate that things with drivers association took a bad turn, but that is in the past and all we can do is move forward and work at making things better.
Watch for up coming announcements here, we will try and keep you informed when we have more details. If you have any questions please feel free to ask , you can message me on the forum or email JIMS@EASTLINK.CA or like I have said before try the good old phone 902 584 3532 , if I don`t have the answer I will find it.

2016 ARMS Spec Miata Race Series – Promotion Announcement
2016 ARMS Spec Miata Race Series – Promotion Announcement
Effective immediately, ARMS has assumed full responsibility for all aspects of the Spec Miata series. The ARMS Race Committee will be conducting the promotion and organisation of all elements of the ARMS Spec Miata series for 2016. This will result in the same competition opportunities for ARMS Spec Miata participants as have been available in the past.
Unfortunately, requirements agreed to by ARMS Race Committee and Spec Miata Championship Drivers Association (SMCDA) during negotiations were not able to be met by SMCDA. The following background gives additional information.
On January 12th, 2016, the ARMS Race Committee, after negotiations with Spec Miata Championship Drivers’ Association directors, presented a proposed contract for the promotion of the Spec Miata Championship to the ARMS Executive for final approval. Upon review, the ARMS Executive approved the contract as written, and would sign the contract immediately upon the SMCDA rectifying their status with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies (NS RJSC) – which lists the SMCDA in default. The reason why this is a requirement is such that any association deemed not to be in active status with the NS RJSC is not a legal entity. This would prevent ARMS from signing a contract with any entity with such a status, as a contract must be between two legal entities.
On January 23rd, 2016, the ARMS Board of Directors held a meeting in Bayers Lake. One of the items on the agenda was the SM Championship promotions contract. No response from the SMCDA directors had been received at the time, and the status with the NS RJSC had not changed at the time.
A motion was passed unanimously to issue a letter to one of the SMCDA Directors informing them that if the status of SMCDA had not been rectified to an active standing with the NS RJSC by 11:59pm February 1st, 2016, that ARMS would withdraw from the contract process and that ARMS would assume all responsibility for the Spec Miata series.
This letter was delivered in person by the President and Vice President of ARMS to the declared SMCDA Recognized Agent the next day, January 24th, 2016.
Given that the date has passed that was stipulated by the ARMS Board of Directors in that letter, and that the status of the SMCDA has been verified with the NS RJSC as remaining in default since 2012, ARMS has now formally withdrawn from the contract negotiation process with SMCDA for the promotion of the Spec Miata Championship and assumed full responsibility for all aspects of the Spec Miata series for 2016.
ARMS would like to take this time to assure all SM competitors and owners, both current and future, that the Spec Miata Championship will still continue to exist in the same format at every race weekend as has been done for the past several years. We would also like to thank all competitors for their patience during this contract negotiation process. Year end awards will still be given out, and we are currently looking into potential series sponsors.
Yours in Motorsport
