Transponders may be rented at registration if necessary. Only ARMS approved transponder units may be used. Official Bulletin Board:
An official bulletin board will be maintained at Registration in the Guthrie Building. Race organizers will consider this building as Race Headquarters for the event.
Insurance:
Stoneridge Insurance.
Qualifying & Grid:
The 2023 JCM grid will be set by the marshals. Bribes are allowed, but put the marshals under no obligation to set your grid position accordingly. Food and beverages are popular gifts.
Cars not in position on the grid five (5) minutes before the start of the race will be required to start from pit lane after the green flag has dropped.
Pre-Race Photo:
Prior to the race starting, the pre-race photograph will be completed as follows:
- Pre-grid as normal, in your race suit, with all other gear in the car with you (or with
your crew). - Drive around 1 lap and stop on the front straight, get out and stand beside your car,
with your crew. (Helmet and HANS can be off). - Photo taken
- Gear up, get back in the car (crew can be on hand to help folks back into the car.)
- Air horn sounds, crew must get off track.
- Cars leave the front straight en masse, the formation lap will be behind the pace car.
Any car not running at this point will be pushed into the pits. - Pace car pits and race begins when the green flag drops.
The Race:
The race will be a three hour endurance race for sedans. The car with the most laps completed after three hours of racing will be declared the winner. Driver changes during the multiple pit stops are allowed (and encouraged); the car shall be scored as a single unit.
The Start:
The start shall be a rolling start behind a pace car.
The race shall begin after one (1) laps steady yellow.
The car in pole position when the pace car has entered the pit lane shall maintain the pace until the green flag is displayed from the starter’s bridge, indicating the start of the race.
Contact at Beginning and End of Race:
All instances of contact reported (by clerk, stewards, marshalls, race control and other judges of fact) in the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes of the race will result in stop-and-go penalties for ALL drivers involved, regardless of fault. Be advised that it may
take several laps for all penalties to be administered.
Drivers are reminded of pit speed and proper pit lane behavior when entering and exiting to serve the penalty; avoid further penalties for pit behavior.
Red Flags:
The clock will not be stopped for Safety Car or Red Flag. The clock will run for the full three hours continuously, regardless of race conditions.
Pit Stops:
Each car will be required to complete two mandatory pit stops during the race, which shall be a minimum of five minutes + the car’s fastest lap, each.
You must complete one green flag lap before your first pit stop, and must start your last pit stop prior to 10 minutes remaining in the race. A sign will be shown at the starter’s bridge at the 10 minutes to go mark.
Pit stops may not be combined into one stop; there must be at least one complete scorable lap between pit stops (i.e. two laps from when the car leaves the pits to when it re-enters).
Max pit speed 40 km/h will be enforced. Penalties will be applied for carelessness. Driver changes may take place during a pit stop. The car shall be switched off before the driver exits the vehicle. The next driver shall be properly belted in prior to restarting the car.
Failure to complete the pit stops will result in a 10 lap penalty for each stop missed.
One stop missed or shorted = 10 lap penalty.
Both Stops missed or shorted = 20 lap penalty.
For more info on pit stops including force majeure situations, see Section 1 of the ARMS Regional Road Race General Competition Rules: https://www.armsinc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/ARMS_Road_Race_GCR_20230424.pdf
