AFRA Track Days & Schools

* July 2nd
* July 29th
* August 6th (Private School)
* September 1st <-SCHOOL IS FULL
* September 29th (Private School) CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER

Cost for the school $140 (includes lapping fees)
Cost for regular lapping $60 online ($80 at the gate)

Throughout the year the Atlantic Formula Racing Association (AFRA) will put on Track Days & Schools (aka Lapping Days & Schools) at Atlantic Motorsport Park. These sessions allow anyone to lap the track in a safe, controlled environment cheaply and without the stress of competition! In order to participate in these sessions drivers are required to have completed an ARMS approved school. To make this process easier AFRA will be providing several 'Track Days & Schools' throughout the year. These sessions will teach you the basics of track safety and driver control to provide you with the tools required to drive at AMP during these sessions!

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that if you have no previous motorsport experience to participate in 1-6 AutoSlalom events before taking any Track School or High Performance Driving School! AutoSlalom is an entry level motorsport event that provides a stepping stone for drivers looking to move into other more competitive and possibly expensive forms of motorsport including Lapping, Track Days, Time Attacks and Road Racing. A typical AutoSlalom event costs aprox $20 per day.
AutoSlalom is where you learn to drive your car, a Track School is where you learn how to drive the track.

The Track Day Schools will be by pre-registration only and will be limited to 4-6 students per school, so please register soon to ensure your spot. Entry fee is $140.00 which includes the lapping card license for students who successfully complete the school.

The schools will consist of 2-3hrs of classroom time followed by a track walk. The afternoon will be spent with the instructors one on one in the car on the track. Students will also be required to man a marshal station for one lapping session with a marshal or instructor later in the afternoon.

Completion of a Lapping School qualifies participants for an ARMS Lapping License allowing you access to the many lapping sessions (aka Lapping Days / Track Days) at Atlantic Motorsport Park throughout the year. The cost of this license is included in your school entry. A Lapping License does not qualify you for SoloSprints or Racing events.

There will be lapping on these days. The lapping sessions will be $60 online ($80 at the gate) and will alternate between the students and novice/experienced lappers. Registration for lapping is from 8:30 - 9:30.

Pre-Registration & payments for LAPPING can be done via this link: http://www.atlanticformularacing.com/track_days.html

Those willing to assist as marshals for the school will get discounts for these Track Days.

We are only accepting 4-6 students max. The students will not be "mixed in" with the regular lappers until the instructor signs off on them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To register for the SCHOOLS please submit the form on the link below:
http://www.atlanticformularacing.com/track_schools.html

Got your PM and your Paypal, you're good to go.

Just FYI to everyone, lapping (at) atlanticformularacing.com is the best method to contact us regarding this event.
Everything else may get lost in the shuffle.

Typically there is only 1 HPDS per year unless there is enough interest. Right now I don't think that ASCC is planning a second HPDS.

The AFRA Track Schools are currently the only ARMS Schools at AMP left for 2012.

We prefer pre-registration, but will take anyone who shows up.
Just remember before you go on track you need to attend a drivers meeting and have all the prerequisites (membership, lapping/timeattack/race license, self tech form, etc etc)

.... and before anyone asks me where they can get those forms, please re-read the first post :wink:

Signed up for the July 29 school and have a few questions:

1) Can the club membership be done at the school or should the form and membership fee be sent to the club in advance?

2) Other than the paypal receipt for the deposit should I have gotten anything to confirm I'm registered?

3) Same 8:00 am start on July 29?

Thanks

1) If you are joining AFRA it can be done at the school, otherwise it's best to contact the club you plan to join.

2) Other than the PayPal receipt nothing is automatically sent out. We need to review your submission and once complete we will contact you.

3) Yes.

The July 29th school is FULL.
There is still plenty of room for lappers.

We are thinking about cancelling the Aug 6th school.
We need 6 students or 12 pre-registered lappers to make the day happen.

The final decision will be made on Aug 1st, so if you're interested please register for the school ASAP or pre-register for lapping.

Since it's the summer and many people are on vacation we are running very low on volunteers for the the AFRA Track School this Sunday.

If anyone is available to help out (man the gate, marshal, etc) please contact me ASAP.
Thanks!

PS-The school will not be cancelled, but less man power means things may move slower than normal.

I'm not sure what you mean by "afterwards".....

There is lapping at all AFRA Track Schools, it's built into the days schedule.
See an example schedule on: http://www.atlanticformularacing.com/track_days.html

We separate everyone into run groups (students, novice, experienced, race cars, formula, etc) and everyone gets a 20~25min session, and we keep repeating until the day is done.

Ya that's what I mean, I was just wondering if the day would be cut short after the instruction if there's only a few people.

I think we've got 4 or 5 people, haven't tallied them.
EDIT: Just counted (only those who have pre-paid) and the tally is 2.
I have a # of people saying they plan on attending, but they will not be counted until they have pre-paid.

Reminder the cut off is Aug 1st to have 12 people pre-registered/paid.

New Gate Procedure for AFRA Track Schools/Days

We will be doing all registration at the Registration Building which has been moved down beside the main gate.

Image

When you enter the main gate, please pull off to the side and enter the Registration building to register (You must come in and sign the wavier!!!) before proceeding into the paddock. THIS APPLIES TO EVERYONE (students, lappers, instructors, volunteers, spectators, etc) Everyone, must sign the wavier which will be located in the registration building until 9:30. (After that it will be most likely be located in the tower)

Please note we will also be assigning worker assignments when you register for lapping, first come first serve.
Registration will be open from 8:30 until 9:30.
From 8am until 8:30 we will be registering the students, so regular lappers are asked to arrive after 8:30.
