Well, that was fun to at least have been able to do a few laps again.

I seriously over-estimated the computing power of my laptop (it ran fine in testing, but once logged into the league, it just couldn't keep up and was lagging like crazy). So I hung back, then just pitted after a few laps.

I'll be back next week, this time with the bigger, better-suited PC

Sebring results posted.

Congrats to Trevor on the wins. Good to see you join in Rejean.

Unfamiliar track to me so was learning as it went. Seems messing up one corner would screw out the next one or two. Tlast with the bumps was still a challenge at the end (came close to hitting the pit wall a few times). Lots of good racing with Randy, Tom and Steve. Those Tlast bumps almost got me at the start of race one, and was at the back of the field by the time I got it collected. Chased down Randy, and then Tom. Almost had Steve at the end when he went wide in Tlast, but the back of my car jumped out so had to back off to save it and finished 0.4s behind. Second race swapped spots with Tom early on, and then got by Steve when he had a wobble. Had to drive hard to the end to keep him behind.

Silverstone historic GP next week.

Sebring another fun one, bumpy, big curbs, fast weird turns. Glad I was able to mix it up and really race both races. Fitting with the 12 hr this weekend. 12hr has always been a tough one to tame, harder on the cars than Daytona even at half the length. Place likes to shake your car to death. Biggest party of the season in the infield though, wow. Always something crazy happening.

Hmm .... couldn't connect. Strange....

Did anyone else have this issue when trying to join the league race?
I know there was a car update before I could try and join...

I had the car updates, but no problem connecting. Saw a bunch of connect/disconnect messages for you, and didn't notice them for anyone else. Haven't seen that error before. Can you load a test session or join a practice server?

Silverstone results posted.

Congrats to Trevor on the wins.

Even with a few of the corners straightened out Silverstone is still a tricky circuit. Qualified behind Trevor but had a slow start which let Paul by and had to fend off Tom. Paul ran wide in T1 on the next lap which let me through. Was going ok until about mid race when Paul started to figure out the track. Started overdriving which just made things worse until I had my own off. Gap varied as we traded mistakes but never got close again.

Second race I started P3 behind Trevor and Paul, and another bad start had me holding off Tom again. Was a few more laps in until Paul went off letting Tom and I through. But he wasn't long catching back up. Held him off for a couple laps, but he wasn't long driving away once he found room to get by.

Spa next week is the last race for this season. Let us know if you are interested in starting another season. We could do a April-June series and then take a break for the summer if there are enough around. With racing season starting up in May there will be a few drivers missing.

I made some subtle changes to the base Mercedes that made it pretty good for Race #1. I had a pretty good start. Thomas was slowly reeling me in, but then the gap stopped changing.

Race#2. Heh, I grabbed the wrong car! Then, I realized that I couldn't back out and change cars. Well, it actually turned out to be a nice experience. I actually never tried the base Ferrari. It's pretty good. You just need to be really gentle with your inputs. Oversteer can be a challenge to manage. I lost the back end twice during Race 2. Poor Randy. I'd catch him, pass him...only to lose the back end and end up behind him again, then again. We had some fun and ended up crossing the finish line together. I have to check, but I think I was actually quicker in the Ferrari than I was in the Mercedes.

Did Steve Phillips show up?

I really don't like Silverstone. If there was ever a track that held me down and kicked dirt in my face it is that place. I just couldn't get down to the rythym of the circuit. I was ok in the fast sweepers but the slow stuff and odd apexes murdered me. So after crashing on pit exit lol, I decided to call it a night.

I know what you mean. My first set up was like that and I was wondering how I was going to be able to race. Turn 1 seemed to be impossible. But then I made a few small adjustments and it became much better. Slowly braking into corners seemed to help as well. Oh well. Spa should be fun...you should go well there.

Everytime I was near Phillips, he understeered off the track somewhere.

That place was tricky as hell, Ferrari was tough to keep from spinning, was ok on low fuel, but with race fuel I had to baby it too much and had no answer for Trevor's race pace.

After some digging, seems like the car updates corrupted my car files.

Gonna get that fixed and make lucky attempt #3 next week

Another funny thing was the track configuration wasn't what I had expected. When I did a quick practice before the event, the chicane configuration at Vale (turn 8 and 9) was a different one (slower). Was there a way to select this config in testing?

Glad you got it sorted Rejean.

Jay, after hitting test, below the track selection there is "CONFIG" that picks the track configuration. Can pick the time of day as well. We were using the Historic GP layout.

If hover the mouse over the black "i" box in the league session list it will give the server settings including the track config, time of day, cars, etc.

Spa results posted.

Congrats to Trevor on the wins, and on taking the championship (13 wins out of 20 races). Tom came in 3rd place and gets the participation award for being the only driver making all 22 races.

Great to have Matt and Reg join in last night.

First race was a bit odd as only about half the grid set a qualifying time. Spa is one of those tracks where it's very easy to run out of bounds. After the start of the race Trevor did his usual disappearing act up front, but Steve was giving close chase until he and Tom started fighting over 3rd. Thought Matt might give chase towards the end but was a fair size gap once he got through the field.

Was looking to be a better race for the last round with Matt on pole and Trevor just a couple tenths off in qualifying. But that went out the window when Matt had launch failure off the grid. I gave him a push to help him get going (sorry about that). As the resulting chaos climbed the hill I got a 2s slow down penalty. It was weird because I backed off letting cars by and it didn't reduce the penalty time. Had to let the entire field by before it would go away. Had fun chasing down a few cars after that, though got lucky with a few that had off course excursions just as I got near. By the time I made it up to 3rd I had nothing for Trevor or Matt.

Thanks to everyone that came out to play during the season. Always fun with a good group of drivers. We're working on putting together another season in April-June. Current thinking is the global MX5 on a bunch of shorter tracks just to make it easier for people to drop in for a race. Will also save the chatter on which car is faster. ;-). Stay tuned.

We've scheduled a couple of Global MX5 fun runs next week at Oulton Park (Fosters layout). Usual time slot, more details once we make them up.....

We should do a couple ARMS Pro Stock races...

The super late model in the game is the exact offset chassis Leigh and I race, there is a decent baseline road setup, we could do a couple "spec" races with that setup at some wonky tracks.

Or, just stick with the GT3 cars at the short tracks, I hate the MX5.

Thanks for having me. Still need to learn the subtleties of iR it seems. I had pace but I messed up a few too many minor details to really challenge Trevor in Race 2. Sorry for the Start issue, Ken. I thought I needed to modulate the clutch a bit more, but apparently I should have just revved it up and let it drop!

As for the MX5, Paul, if you run them with manual clutch and H pattern they are 100% faster than with auto clutch, as the simulated shift is actually slower. They are about the only car in the game I've had time to play with, and can be really fun!

I support Paul’s suggestions. Formula cars would be fun too. I can only participate during the next two weeks, though. I’m easy...

Thanks for the feedback guys. We could have a couple "V8 nights", during the season to mix things up a bit if the Global MX5 start to get a little stale. Haven't driven them a lot yet but they seem a little livelier than the older MX5 Roadster/Cup car with the default setup, and not as easy to drive as the AMG. Also looking forward to using the clutch pedal again.

That seemed to go ok last night Thanks to those that came out to give the cars a try. Track was a bit of a challenge, but ended up having some good runs with Tom both races. Can run fairly close together with these cars, but apparently not too close as Paul and I found out (replay shows a few inches between the cars but the netcode decided there was contact). As Paul mentioned you really notice when you make a mistake.

Most were running the default setup last night and it seemed to work well. Think we will leave setups open though in case someone wants to tweak it to suit their driving style. There aren't a lot of setup options anyway and don't think there would be much to gain over the default.

So we'll start the official season next week at Monza (servers should be already set up), and get the rest of the schedule sorted out shortly.

I'm not a huge fan of the MX-5 in general, I don't mind it on a super busy circuit, but otherwise I find it kind of boring. Especially with low numbers which will probably be the norm and a few didn't show up and then some dropped out between races.

The first race last night was uneventful, field all strung out, once I got to 2nd, Trevor was too far away and he doesn't make many mistakes, so I didn't have a hope of getting near him.
2nd race I set a slow qualifying lap on purpose to start at the back to make it more fun, it was for sure, but that isn't really the way to make races interesting IMO.
I lucked into winning it with a rare Trevor mistake, and I took Ken out along the way with a ghost punt.

Monza MX5 results posted

Great fun last night. Not terribly exciting cars to drive on their own but get a few of them together on the track and it's a blast (somewhat like real life). Art and I were trading places in the first race, and then for the second John P joined in for most of it until he looped it coming on to the back straight. Between the draft and little mistakes being very telling there were lots of position changes. Race winner was determined who timed the pass right on the last lap, and in both races the margin was just over 0.1 s.

Hopefully we'll see a few more cars out at Jefferson reverse next week.

Sorry boys the NHL playoffs have forced me to the couch last week and this week. I don't think my team is going to have a deep run so I should be out soon lol.

Do you lose your purchased cars/tracks when you do this?

I've been spending what little simulator time I have driving AMP on rFactor2 (Thanks Ken, Jared, and others!) ...so except for the odd test session after an update on iRacing I've done squat all with it in the last two years

Thanks
Stacy

You don't lose anything. Whatever cars and tracks you had when your sub lapsed will be there when you sign up again.

Laps around AMP... that sounds like a good idea.
