Congrats to Art and Scott on the wins.

So how many took the normal chicane near pit in before someone pointed out that could take the road just before it? I did, and noticed a few others using the chicane during practice. Someone must have left the cones in the marshal's bus.

Started off with one of the craziest starts we've had in years. Seems most got the memo about how to turn off traction control, but the weirdness began even before that. Someone moved about when the lights turned red. They started to go around me and then stopped when they got wedged between my car and the wall. Was still processing the WTF when the green flew and cars were going everywhere in front of me. Scott's car did a snap turn right into the wall taking Trevor with him, and another car spun to the left. I backed off while looking for a hole and got hit from behind and spun. After backing into the wall trying to get turned I called for a tow, 41s is one of the shortest ones I've ever had. After that it was just lapping, Tom even left me by when I caught him. About the only motivation was staying on the lead lap as Art wasn't far behind when got out of the pits.

Race 2 I think just about everyone had TC back on. Got by Art in the first couple corners, and we had a few side by side moments on the first lap. Then he stayed within a second for the rest of the race. Great fun. Thought Trevor and Paul might come back to us as they fought over 2nd, but then Paul's Ferrari took a bad hop over the curbs at one of the chicanes. Trevor then disappeared chasing after Scott.

BTW tried a few test starts with TC off in the Merc between races and the car ran out of 1st gear well before the wheelspin was under control. Seemed easier to start in 2nd as could control the wheelspin better, and didn't have to shift in the middle of it. YMMV

Road America next week.

I streamed both races on Twitch. This time I had a heart rate monitor overlay and you can see my heart rate spike during the start of Race #1. LOL!

After the race, I replayed the start from a few different camera angles, if anyone wants to see it.

Fun track, but took me a bit to get it figured out in the race.
2nd race I took too much curb at the chicane and got greedy trying to keep after it, 2 minute tow..
After that I more or less completely sucked, kept messing up the chicanes.
I liked the Ferrari, not sure if its the car to have next week though, the AMG's are pretty fast in a straight line.

I've never run at Zolder before...very challenging track. In Practice, I was taking the 'second' chicane and I'm glad I heard Ken say "take the chicane before that one, Jay!"

During the first event, I was surprised when I was 4th during Quali...but then during the end I think I was 6th. I wasn't very good on the chicanes. During the race start, Jesus took the wheel and I ended up in first place. After a few laps, Art reeled me in and then Paul was there when I exited one of the long right handers. 3rd Place...felt like a win at this track.

I made a small set up change for the second race, but it made the car slightly worse. Relatively poor Quali. I had a good start. Steve and I were having some fun. Shortly after Paul took too much curb, I did the same. I'm not sure if Steve got by, as I think he had an incident at the same chicane as well. I started to chase down Randy, but ran out of laps and the tires were really giving up.

Thanks to Paul and Steve, who chimed in on using the base setup. I tried it and it's pretty damn good 'as-is'! Whenever I tried a slight change, it wasn't as good.

Yeah that was me on the jump start. I don't know what I was thinking. I was sitting there revving the engine for fun and looked away for a min. Next thing I know the red lights popped up and I took off haha. I stopped a row up and tip toed through the carnage. Had to do a stop and go for the penalty and then just did some lapping. Second race Jay and I were having a good battle until he crashed. Then I crashed a lap later. About typical for me.

The start of the first race was the funniest thing I have seen on iracing.
I started at the back with no qual time, watched Steve launch at the red light, then soon after that the entire field exploded all over the place.
It was like someone power barfed GT3 cars everywhere. I managed to get through without hitting anything and see that Jay was leading!

Don't feel bad, Steve...both Paul and I have jumped the start with the illumination of the red lights!

I don't think anyone was more surprised than me when I looked to see a number 1 by my name. I was even more surprised when I looked in the rear view mirror and no one was there!

Only $3000? Would have thought the wheel alone was worth that. Then theres the computer, the dozen monitors/screens, the cockpit,....

If you want to try a setup that won't cost an arm and a leg you're welcome to come visit. I might even buy some of that stuff you think is beer.

You really don't need a fancy setup at all to have fun with iracing, mine is super basic, old G25 on a desk, stock pedals, 21" monitor and an older PC, I run lower detail to keep my FRS up.

Congrats to Paul and Trevor on the wins. Think that's the first win we've had in the Ferrari. Good to see Brian W running with us again.

Hoped to get back in time for this one but didn't make it. Going to miss Oulton Park next week as well. :(

For everyones information, after the latest BOP changes in the the last update, the Audi R8 is not the fastest car of the group. merc still a safe bet though.

Fun races last night.

Joined the first race just before grid time. Started at the back with no qualifying time. Was an interesting first lap as one car looped it in turn 5, which allowed me to get up alongside Brian heading to the Hislop chicane. Then Brian disappeared (missed the chicane) and I chased down Randy. Unfortunately, I dropped wheels in the grass while heading into turn 3 alongside Randy, lost all braking ability and slammed into him. After the incident I slowed to let him retake the position, but he ended up towing to the pits. ☹

From there I slowly reeled in Jay and we spend several laps nose-to-tail. I was waiting for him to make a mistake so that I could cleanly pass, but he was hitting all his apexes and leaving no opportunities. Finally, though, my opportunity came and I slipped by, only to go off myself a couple corners later. Lol

Race #1 stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/231475877

Second race I captured pole by a slim margin, but it didn’t matter because Paul & Trevor got by at the start due to my sh!t launch off the grid. From there, the three of us ran nose-to-tail the whole race until the final lap where Trevor & Paul made contact and I inherited the win.

Last night was a sh!t show for me, I guess it doesn't pay to setup and dust off the wheel 5 minutes before trying to race again. My setup is not fancy, a bunch of boxes stacked up behind my desk chair to keep the chair from rolling away...lol I turned on iRacing last night and after a long update I thought I was good, jump into the race and then Windows decides to update and boxes kept popping up in front of my face blocking the screen.

Hopefully next week I will be a bit more organized and ready!

Yeah, sorry about that Steve, noting like trying to click a popup box on your screen to go away at the same time a braking zone comes up!

Fun track!

Like Scott said, we had some fun running together for a bunch of laps in the first race. Second race, I spent the race chasing Steve after he figured out his ABS and qualified just ahead of me. After some attempts to close the gap, I made the gap bigger! For some reason, my pedal set was moving forward...need to look at that.

I use a free app called Razer Cortex Game Booster, which can disable Windows updates, virus scans, etc while gaming. Works great.

Mid Ohio results posted.

Congrats to Trevor on the wins. Also put the Oulton Park results up.

Good to be back. Though someone turned the ABS off in the car while I was away and it took a bit to figure out how to turn it back on (the switch was set to "on" but the setting set to 12 meant it was off). Also the first server crashed a few minutes into the practice session, so had to fire up another one (the iracing message said "server failed to launch" but there were 4-5 us on it practicing when it booted us).

I had a front row seat to watch Trevor and Paul chase each other last night, but unfortunately I was never close enough to challenge them, even when they slowed a little while defending or the one mistake near the end of race two. Lost ground to them starting around lap 5 in the first race when developed a bit of a push. Managed to stay a little closer in the second race but began to fall back around lap 10.

Road Atlanta up next. Wonder if iracing will have the new curbs and paving updated by next week (http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/bet ... d-atlanta/)

Road Atlanta results posted.

Congrats to Trevor on the wins. Looks like Scott was keeping him honest for both races, especially the second one.

First race Scott and Trevor were out of reach after the first lap so kept an eye and Steve and then Brian W behind. Second race Scott was slow off the line which let Paul ahead and made T1 interesting. Once Scott was around Paul I tried to chase down Paul but the gap was fairly steady the entire race.

Sebring up next, which is a new track for the league. Hopefully there won't be a mega download before this race.

The Merc felt pretty good around here. I used the standard setup, but made a shock adjustment to minimize the bounce through the last section of turns.

Thomas Tucker and I had some fun close racing in Race 1. He had a bad start and Randy and I passed him. My wing setting probably helped me through the corners, but he would slowly close the gap on the straights.

In Race 2, I dropped my rear wing to 5, but it didn't help much. Steve had a big crash. Something happened to Randy and someone else.

Sorry about my warping. After the fact I discovered it was an issue with my VPN client. I always shutdown my VPN when go on iRacing, but it appears my client hung while closing and I was actually running through VPN the whole time.

Here’s my stream from the two races. Was good fun.

I found that one difficult, just could not get the Ferrari to work at that track with the base setup, way too much understeer. This car seems to work really well some places, and not very well at others.
Wasn't happy to watch Trevor and Scott drive away so easily, but nothing I could do.

Yeah big update caught me a little off guard, and then it seems Oculus let their security certificates lapse so I had to do a work around to get the Rift working. Made it in with a minute or two left in practice. Race one was ok, I had a small off at T6-7 and let Brian by, after that just lapping. Race 2 I had a crash coming out of the esses and had to pit, made it back out and had another crash so I packed her in and went to watch tv lol.

Jay I ran the wing at position 1 for the qualifying and then switched to 2 for the race, car seemed pretty balanced in the fast stuff, a little pushy in the slow stuff though, typical for these cars I find.
