Seems that a number of folks have some good projects on the go.

This could be a good season coming up!

Who else can we drag to the Dirty side?

I know of several cars with the interiors stripped out waiting for some bent tubing. Just over two months to go until the next RallySprint! Plenty of time to get those cages in there!

I'm targeting to run P2WD for the 2018 CRC, in addition to our local events. Seems that there might a couple teams from our area looking to do the same.

I actually have a build plan put together and where I'm sourcing parts from, although any input or advice is appreciated. Where I'm sourcing the cash is another thing..... 8O

I just need to work on my engine rebuild and welding skills; Exactly why I'm off to the garage as we speak :D

Gord, you mentioned you knew of someone stateside who builds custom suspension for cars such as mine, that don't have an off the shelf rally set up???

Not sure the exact conversation but John VanLandingham builds custom suspensions for pretty much everything. He's a... personality, but by all accounts his suspensions work quite well. You're immediately his friend if you're running 2WD vs 4WD which he sees as cheating. :)

As for setup/advice ask away, happy to do anything we can do get more cars on the stages!

Oh man, I've always wanted to do that course. Don't think I can make it happen that soon though.

Do rebuilds count on this thread ... The Audi is getting some "minor" tweeks.
Improved fire protection, wiring, lights, brake upgrade, possibly new suspension, redesigned skid plate, radiator mounts,
engine mounts, spare tire mounts, reinforced harness mounts. .... plus a bunch of repairs - broken oil pan (done), broken
radiator (done) ...

Good thought on the welding course. I'll have to look at signing up for the welding course for the fall. My welds are
embarrassing.

That might be the best $750 I'll ever spend. Count me in!!

I'd probably up for that too.

Did you guys end up taking that welding course? I'm thinking of taking it this year and wondered if you guys thought it was worthwhile.

Tim Dine did. Haven't been able to make the time/budget work out myself yet. Still on the to-do list.

Tim and I both did. We were the only ones in the course with any sort of previous experience, so that shows it is very much targeted at newbies.

I found the course invaluable, both for knowledge and time spent practicing. The most useful thing for me was learning to understand the equipment and proper set up. The only trouble I had was going home to use the painfully budget-priced gear I owned after the course. :orglaugh: That being said, the instructor was very helpful in assisting me to pick out what I would need in the future and where to purchase it at a fair cost.

It was a fairly loose atmosphere and curriculum. You would be taught the things you asked to be taught. Later, we were permitted to bring small projects from home to work on.

I'm signed up for the Welding Basic MIG course at NSCC. Are students expected to bring welding helmets / gloves / jackets / steel toe shoes / etc.? Are any text books required?

I sent NSCC and email and was informed that we will need to bring our own Welding Helmet, Welding Gloves, Safety Glasses and CSA Approved Safety Boots.

See you there Mal!
