Hmmm...looks like June 7th @ AMP will be the site for the first "medal Section" of the Halifax to California Rally event. By the look of the Participants list there will be some amazing cars traveling on the surface of AMP this summer. I hope Harold is available to take some pictures of these beauties from around the world! :)

Have a look.... http://www.endurorally.com/pages/the-2n ... lenge-2015

I tried to get in touch with the organizers for some information back late last year but didn't hear anything back. Definitely have to take a trek out there with the camera gear!

Private rental. I will contact the Renter and ask if visitors are permitted. If so you will need to sign a waiver.

Thanks andy, I'd love the chance to actually be able to go watch/hear those cars.

Thanks Andy, didn't realize it was a private event. The website and articles made it sound like they wanted the show.

I'm sure that they won't mind, having people ogle your nice car is half the fun, I'll let you guys know.

Organizers have no problem with car nuts coming out to ogle. You will have to sign the waiver of course upon entry and not drool on the seats.

Thank you Andy...These are "different" types of people then we are used to at AMP and as such will have a new perspective of competition. Should be a hoot to hear some of their stories and drool over beside their cars.

This looks like an awesome event. And bonus it's on a free weekend, unless you're lucky enough to be in Montreal.
Gotta find a camera. Although I believe the sounds will be as good as the sights.
No guaranties about the drool. :D

Anybody have more details about time on June 7? Also is there something for the public on June 6?

I don't expect there will be many "Trailer Queens" in this crowd as it looks like they enjoy the rallying side of motorsports
but as it is the start of the event we may see them in their best coveralls !!
This maybe the only time I will want to be on the gravel road watching/listening to them drive into the track !! 8O

I just received an update from the "clerk of the course" and he says they will be at AMP before and after lunch. For those of you who will be in Halifax, it looks like they will be at the Halifax, Marriott Harbourfront to start and in Moncton they will be at the Crown Plaza at the end of the day/start of next day.
I hope we get good weather for these offshore folks and maybe the black flies will stay away for a day at AMP.

Thursday Update...
Looks like the "cars" for the most part will be at AMP around 11 AM and then gone by 2 PM. This AMP part is just a section of the event, that is running that day and as such they will be coming and going from AMP as they perform two complete "runs" of the circuit.

Hmmm...this is starting to sound like a day for a couple of hot dogs and a few wobbly pops, put ones feet up and listen to the sounds of "days gone by".

This participant's past "perspective of competition" was being an ex F1 Team Manager, at a time when one James Hunt won a championship!

Here is a selection of my photos from yesterday. They are unedited: selected, but no crops or adjustments, so some are off-center or a little dark. The group starts off with shots around the start and finish areas and then goes through the cars in numerical order. Not sure if I got them all or not. Didn't see the VW until the afternoon. And I had to leave a bit early.
There should be two "SlideShows". The usual 800-pixel-wide files are at:

http://bluenoseautosport.ca/hmmerk/AMP- ... /index.htm

but there's another set 1280-pixels-wide at:

http://bluenoseautosport.ca/hmmerk/AMP- ... /index.htm

Thanks, Kevin for alerting me to this photo opportunity and getting some of the timing details!

- Harold

For those looking for identification of the cars, theres a list of the competitors and cars at:

http://endurorally.com/pages/trans-amer ... rticipants

Looks like there has been a substitution or two, though. No Land Rover in the list (#6 was supposed to be a Packard Super 8), but two Alvis Speed 25s.

Daily results are posted at:

http://endurorally.com/pages/trans-america-2015-results

The Triumph Stag won day 1 (which included the AMP event)! One of Gordon's pics certainly shows they were trying hard enough!

The Triumph was the only car I was concerned might actually have an incident. He was pushing. He dropped two wheels off 4 at one point but it didn't bite him as much as it could have.

Wow, they took some pretty crappy roads through New Brunswick to get to where they are going...

It would allow them to see this in New Demark though:

A bunch of the cars had gravel rally tires on. Crappy roads are what they wanted I think.

For many of those cars, the road to AMP is better that what existed when they were new.

Hey now, they drove near my house! :orglaugh:
The road around Woods Point (between Sackville and Dorchester) is a nice gravel road.
Still not the route I would have taken across NB but interesting nonetheless, especially with the Renous hwy.
