I wonder how many of you are old enough to remember a certain Lotus-Cortina that was seriously rallied back in the 70's. It was bought from a Ford dealer on Robie St in Halifax in 1971? For $450.00, by the Langley brothers- Wib & Binnie and rallied in the Maritime Regional Rallies. The car was retired several years later from rallys and then the brothers decided to restore her.
I recall being in Binnie's shop on top of Gasperaux Mountain when the car was 1/2 finished. And what an amazing job they do on this car. Shortly after completing the restoration the car showed up in my driveway, I think on the way to Ontario. They showed the car to Walter Boyce , Canadian Rally Champion for a few years in the late 60's, who I believe got his start in a Lotus-Cortina.
Now the Lotus-Cortina is up for sale in Jacksonville , FL for $42,000.00.
So as soon as I saw the ad, I checked on the serial number in the ad and the number from the restoration article , and My intuition was right. it was the same lotus-Cortina. Small world!
