Asking on behalf of a friend: is there such a thing as a 'custom made' car racing helmet, to fit an oddly shaped head? Or are they all standard S, M, L sizes? If there are custom helmets, who makes them?

Every manufacturer of helmets fit differently. Best bet is to go somewhere with inventory and try them on. HJC fits different than Bell, different than Racequip, etc. A Large in one could be different than a Large in another is what I'm trying to say.

Yeah, your best bet is to visit somewhere like Perry Performance in Montreal who has a lot of helmets in stock and try them on until you find a fit.

If you're talking motorcycle helmets, Arai has models for different head shapes (I seem to fit the 'long oval' ones best, I can't remember the names given to the other shapes).

No idea if they do the same thing for their car helmets, but it's a possibility.
