Its pretty damn hard to beat Toyota. My Tundra has 270K on it and other than regular maintenance items, the only things I have replaced are the tires & brakes (twice). I'm not easy on a truck, especially this past 5 months of earthworks. When the time comes, I'm buying another Tundra!

Yep, my Tundra 250K+ has only ever needed a airbag wire replaced.

But you pay for that dependability in gas mileage ...last trip to AMP hauling the racecar 6.5mpg 8O and going 15km/hr slower on the way back made no difference. I had a small delivery last week to the Caribou wind farm (roughly the same distance) and they had to stop for fuel 3 times even without the trailer.

But I bet this gets good mileage (trying to get back on subject ) with the 1600 aircooled VW engine:

Those cars refuse to depreciate. They were the same price when I was looking at them 5 years ago.

Not even remotely close to a sports car, looks like a little old ladies car (and probably was), probably not enough power to get out of it's own way, and most likely handles like it looks...

But these things were tanks! ...you just couldn't kill them if you tried. Two different NBSCC members had these in the day and they beat & beat on them and they wouldn't die.

So I submit this 57,000km! car only because somebody may know somebody that wants a cheap reliable car despite the fact that it is just an appliance on wheels?

New Brunswick Mercurys must have been different to Nova Scotian Fords. My brother had a Tempo version of these new, as I recall it was the newest and most horrid car that I had driven at that time, if it would start, something to do with Ford discovering the joys of ECMs or something. The "minor cosmetic damage" may be the left rear, it doesn't show in the pics and it looks like there may be damage to the 1/4 panel.

Vanderlaan also had one, racked up hundreds of thousands of klicks and I don't think he ever changed so much as a clutch...

NS cars must have been built on Mondays

I had a Topaz like this, I ran it 45 degrees into a curb covered by snow in the Zellers parking lot going about 60, car launched into the air and spun around almost 180 degrees. It didn't handle any worse after that. I haven't experienced a worse automatic transmission, had to be replaced twice, but the engine was still good at 250k.

I know this car might be a little old for some of us, but I wonder what kinda of lap times it could do?

Speaking of BaT, thankfully this violates my strict "My car can't cost more than my house" rule.

Not sure what is going on with the picture attachments on the forum with it's multi coloured washouts(fixed, thanks system gurus!), but here is a direct link off of this weekends Jardine Auction:

How hard is it to get a good S2000 these days? What do they go for?

I have a friend thinking of selling his 2004 and I know it is in great shape, never modified, always dealer serviced. It is my understanding that this is a rare situation. I've always been a miata guy, but this one is a really nice car.

Oh no! (just kidding, although theirs numerous horror stories of dealers using CRV rear diff fluid and ruining rear ends). They're not rare, they made over 110,000 examples and can be imported from japan now. Just something you have to travel to find a good one, and if you're selling it might take a bit of waiting to find the right buyer.

How many km's? I know of a Canadian market, one owner, sub 100k, yellow AP2 like the one you pictured. Sold for 17-18k Canadian a couple years back. Sounded like a lot of money then, but they've only gone up since then. Similarly, I know of a yellow 06 with a replaced engine and partial repsray that sold for 20-22k Canadian last year.

my guess is low to mid twenties would be an easy sell, more if he's patient. Or keep it for five year and see if it can outperform your index funds.

nice car! (ps, the soft top in that picture isn't folding correctly and it'll wear through the fabric prematurely if he doesn't fix it. Happens to every S2000 top http://www.modifry.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=33_78&product_id=86)

$2K? I almost paid that for these two put together (...and the foxbody has a supercharger)

BTW just yesterday I was looking for my Audi R8 registration to go to the motor vehicle with today ...and came across the registration for my UR Audi coupe above. See anything amiss (I think they only got the number of cylinders right):

How did you get a blown fox body for under $2k??? I'd have a collection as winter beaters if they were that cheap!
